Students Interested in STEM Need Your Guidance
US universities and colleges are working hard to increase the number of young people in STEM disciplines. But students are over-whelmed when it comes to selecting a major or a college. In particular, women and students of color sometimes tend to shy away from these programs for all the wrong reasons.
Students need to hear from you. They will be inspired to consider STEM fields when they hear from those who are passionate about their work, who have found meaning in what they do, and who are able to share their personal stories and career pathways.
As a STEM-SMART Partner you can:
- Help students select the right major and submit a successful application to your college or university.
- Inform and promote STEM scholarships and other undergraduate research opportunities at your institution.
- Engage with potential students directly through the STEM-SMART site through customized Webinars, forums, etc.
- Guide interested students in applying for internships at local companies and research labs.
